The Senate Budget Committee seeks a Republican professional staff member to cover a portfolio that includes education, labor and social service issues. Successful candidates will be motivated, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical skills, along with familiarity with the federal budget and congressional budget process. Responsibilities include analyzing legislation for budgetary impact and compliance with Senate budget enforcement rules; assisting committees and personal offices with scoring and procedural questions; reviewing proposals included in the President’s Budget; and developing subject-matter expertise across relevant budget and appropriations accounts. The position requires a demonstrated understanding of federal education programs and the relevant budgetary concepts, such as credit program scoring and Pell Grant funding rules. The staff member will work closely with the Congressional Budget Office, authorizing committees, Senate Leadership, and the Parliamentarian’s Office, as needed.
